HEARTFELT WINGS SCRAPPY TAILS CRAFTS BLOG HOP

Hi Scrappy Tails Crafters! Thank you so much for joining our Spring Inspiration blog and video hop! The Scrappy Tails design team members are using new products from our recent “Heartfelt Wings” collection. This release is inspired by beautiful butterflies, birds and blooms. Along the hop you’ll find lots of beautiful Easter, Mother’s Day and Spring themed cards.

For this special occasion I decided to make a Spring card with a vintage look.

I started cutting a panel from white cardstock and I create a first pattern on it with the new "Hello Butterfly" stencil and speckled egg, salvaged patina and peacock feather Distress Oxide inks.

I started cutting a panel from white cardstock and I create a first pattern on it with the new "Hello Butterfly" stencil and speckled egg, salvaged patina and peacock feather Distress Oxide inks.

I darkened edges with antique linen and vintage photo Distress Oxide inks and I splattered with clean water and vintage photo Distress spray stain.

I then stamped one of the beautiful bird from the new "Birds and Blooms" stamp set with vintage photo Distress spray stain loosened with a bit of water and I used the same liquid ink to darkened edges (with a some drops of ground espresso Distress spray stain too).

I splattered with gold and white acrylic paint and I added a metallic look adding some gold Distress foundry wax.

I heat embossed in white one of the butterfly from the "Heartfelt Wings" stamp set on watercolor paper, I colored it with fired brick. canded apple, picked raspberry and kitsch flamingo Distress watercolor pencils and I cut it with coordinating dies.

I die cut the beautiful "Bird Cage" die  from light gold and black cardstock, I glued them one above the other and I put it in the center of my card base.

I put everything together, I added the "Hello" from the "Hello Butterfly" coordinating dies and some embellishment from the new "Spring Flower Breeze" mix and that's all.

Here are some close-ups.

  8. It's a very pretty card. I'm not good with mixed media but I enjoy seeing what others do. The sets of these would be a great addition to anyone's collection. [Bunny]

  9. I adore the grunge background. And the white embossing on the butterfly makes it pop!

  10. Had I not read you used Candy Apple Red, I would not have thought it was on the butterfly. The red doesn't overpower the other colors on the card. I love the background and splattered inks. I usually spend a day making different colored backgrounds for fun.
